Cycle to the Serengeti Challenge: Completed!

We have completed our 6,526 Mile ‘Cycle to the Serengeti’ Challenge!
The streets of Wetherby were filled with celebration and the sound of spinning pedals this week, as our weary team marked the grand finale of our Cycle to the Serengeti Challenge.
Throughout April, the team has collectively cycled an astonishing 6,526 miles — the equivalent distance from Yorkshire to the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania — all on static bikes set up right in the heart of Wetherby.

Each day throughout the month, members of the TAWG team took to the streets, pedalling towards our goal and raising both funds and awareness for a charitable cause close to our hearts. Passersby and supporters were treated to the sight of determined cyclists braving the elements and logging miles rain or shine, turning Wetherby into a hub of community spirit and charitable energy.
“This challenge has been an incredible journey, not just in terms of miles, but in the way it’s brought our team and the wider community together. We’re so grateful for the support we’ve received from local residents and businesses. It’s proof of what we can achieve when we rally together for a cause.”
The challenge culminated in a street-side finale on 28th April, as Managing Director Naomi and Team Leader Dec saddled up for the final miles, supported by colleagues, friends, and enthusiastic members of the public. They completed the final countdown to cheers and applause.
To celebrate the accomplishment, the team hosted a vibrant street event complete with a charity raffle featuring an impressive array of prizes. Among the top items were a signed Leeds United Ladies shirt, a framed Leeds Rhinos shirt, and a selection of gift vouchers generously donated by Wetherby’s local businesses – a testament to the town’s strong community ties and unwavering support.
“I just wanted to take a moment to say a HUGE thank you to Team TAWG. You really have done so incredibly well with your challenge, and you should be so so proud of the amazing total you have achieved. It was so wonderful to come down to the finale and be part of such a special atmosphere and moment – the team, their friends, and family, as well as the business owners and community of Wetherby shone so generously and enthusiastically. Working with Training at Work Group has been such a pleasure so far, and I’m really excited to see what the rest of the year holds.”
